A. Srinath, 52, is the MLA for Thoothukudi. A Thoothukudi native from a coastal Fernando family — his grandfather Richard Fernando ran a sailing dhoni out of Manapad and the Thoothukudi port — Srinath is a Tamil film actor and director (Naalaya Theerpu, Santosh Subramaniam, Vettaikkaaran, Master; directed Muthirai and Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham) and a college friend of TVK president Joseph Vijay. He won the seat from DMK minister P. Geetha Jeevan by about 30,000 votes on 4 May 2026 — TVK's first-ever assembly seat. He has committed his term to Thoothukudi's fisher communities, port-city livelihoods and the long-tail of the 2018 Sterlite protest.
